Centuries ago in a remote region of Western Europe, it was said that there existed an ancient cave in an enclosed valley, wherein dwelt a dark and sadistic cult. Every traveler will tell a different version of how the cult came into being, some say they came upon the cave and encountered a massive and ferocious lion, others tell of a vile pact with a sinister beast-like god. All versions of the tale relay that the cult sacrificed many innocents in the name of their dark god. Over time the cave became stained with the blood of many and tainted by the violent essence of their god. Over time, the cultists grew complacent in their secluded valley and stopped their sacrifices. The dark god grew angry that its bloodlust was not being satisfied and put a terrible curse on the cave. The curse made the cave and surrounding area incredibly desirable to any that came upon it, turning them to violence and treachery to make the cave their own. The god would then feed off of the chaos and violence committed for control his sacred area. Within weeks a larger tribe wiped out the cultists and moved into the valley.

The cycle of bloodshed continued throughout history and all of the people that controlled the area began to feel the corrupting influence of the god. In time, each came to worship him in their own way. He went by different names but it was always the same malevolent being represented by a lion. The cultists knew it as Os’ko, the Slavs called it Czernabog, and the Crusaders thought it was the voice of their own god. As each group moved into the area they built upon the cave and added their own amenities reflecting their own influences. The Crusaders did perhaps the most work, turning the area into a monastery to the great lion god with outlying homes in the valley. The Western European influence is the most obvious but certain features of the old Neolithic society that first built inside the cave are clearly visible such as the floor panels. The dark god grew tired of the Crusaders and his little scheme so he bid them to block the paths to the valley. Shortly thereafter, the entire order of knights disappeared. Centuries later, the valley is near impenetrable and completely devoid of human life. The local plant life has reclaimed the area and much of the building. While much of the malice has left the area with the loss of the dark god’s interest the underlying evil of atrocities once committed still lingers.
